Building Maintenance Updates

In accordance with EPA regulations, Powhatan County Public Schools has an Asbestos Management Plan in place. A copy of the plan is available for your review in the office of each school building. Asbestos information will be made available annually for Powhatan Middle School. Information about asbestos inspections, response actions, and post-response action activities, including periodic re-inspection and surveillance activities that are planned or in progress, will be posted on the website and available in the main office. If there are any questions, you may contact Mr. Tom Sulzer, Assistant Director of Facilities, at 804-598-5700.

Powhatan Strong: Family Connection Series

Powhatan County Public Schools Student Services Department welcomes you to our monthly Virtual Coffee Chats titled Powhatan Strong Family Connection Series. Each month, Student Services will present a different topic with strategies to support your students from home, policies and procedures at the division and school levels, and opportunities to ask questions of our Student Services Department members and guest panelists.
Our next session will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 10 AM. During this session, we will explore the topic of parent burnout and stress. With the holiday season upon us, we know this is a busy time of year and want to provide you the resources to help manage a potentially stressful but fulfilling time. Powhatan Christmas Mother

Silence Hurts

Students are able to use our "Silence Hurts" form to report behavior of any kind. This form goes directly to all administrators and counselors, and students can use this form anonymously. Students are encouraged to use this form to help a friend in need or report a situation. The form is located on our PCPS websites. We encourage our students to be an upstander and help a friend in need - "if you see something, say something!"

VSBA Scholarship Opportunity

The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) is thrilled to announce a brand-new scholarship opportunity designed to support high school seniors across the Commonwealth! The VSBA Board of Directors Regional Scholarship recognizes students who excel in academics, leadership, and community service, providing them with financial support to pursue their post-secondary education.
- Key Details:
  - Who Can Apply? High school seniors graduating in Spring 2026 who attend a public high school in a division that is a member of the VSBA and located within one of the nine VSBA regions.
  - Scholarship Award: $5,000 per regional winner!
  - Scholarship Theme: Champion for Impact – Share how you plan to use your education to make a difference!
  - Application Deadline: January 30, 2026, by 4:00 p.m.
- Selected recipients will be honored during the 2026 VSBA Regional Spring Networking Forums. Attendance to the student’s respective regional spring networking forum is required to receive their award. Regional winners will be selected and notified in February 2026. A full list of 2026 VSBA Regional Spring Networking Forums is included in the scholarship packet linked below.

Volunteer With Us!

The Lunch Buddies Mentoring Program has been in place in Powhatan County Public Schools for over 10 years. The goal of the program is to help foster strong relationships among our students and the positive adult role models in the community. Whether at any of our 3 elementary schools or our middle school, you would meet with a student once a week and ultimately act as another advocate for them. It can be anything from academic support to conversation, playing games, making crafts, and so much more. The program is planned to begin the first week of October and will last until mid-May, when SOL testing begins in our upper grade levels.
