Powhatan High School’s Rho Kappa is bringing history to life—and inviting the community to be part of it!
The Powhatan High Historical Archive, hosted by Rho Kappa, will house three historical collections:
Powhatan High School History
Powhatan County History
United States and Virginia General History
Based on the organizers’ research, Powhatan High School may be the only public high school in Virginia to house three archival collections. This initiative offers students a special opportunity to preserve history, work directly with primary sources, and make those resources available for use in history, science, and other classes.
Historical Donations Needed
Do you have a piece of history to share? Rho Kappa is seeking donations of historical items related to Powhatan County, Powhatan High School, and general history.
School memorabilia, such as class rings and letterman jackets, can help students explore the stories and traditions of earlier generations.
The archive cannot accept weapons, alcohol, tobacco containers, or live ammunition.
Share Your Story
History lives in the memories of our community, too! Rho Kappa would love to conduct oral history interviews with Powhatan residents about historical events that have taken place in the county.
Sharing your experiences can help preserve local stories and give students a personal connection to the past.
