We think we are getting the last of the Halloween-related photos out. At the end of last month, Powhatan High School held a SpookFest in the library over two days during Spear time. The fabulous event included nail painting, horror book bingo, button making, a haunted makerspace walk, and more. We loved seeing the high schoolers enjoying these spooky activities. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
Let’s clear out one holiday before we roll into the next! 🎃(Sorry, but sometimes it takes a minute to get through all these photos.) Back in October, Powhatan High School hosted a fantastic Trunk or Treat, and our community showed up. Huge thanks to all the PHS clubs who decorated trunks, handed out candy, planned activities, and made the evening such a fun, welcoming event for local families. 🧡🖤 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
After fourth graders at Powhatan Elementary studied elements of drama in reading, what better way to review for their Jamestown test than a reader’s theater skit? Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Easter collaborated with the art teacher (Mrs. Webster) to create costumes, and the students loved bringing the Jamestown settlement of 1607 to life with this cross curricular activity! #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Mrs. Peyton’s Intro to Film students at Powhatan High School dove into the history of animation earlier this semester and brought it to life themselves. 🎬✨ After studying how early animators created the illusion of motion, students built zoetropes, a classic optical device that uses a spinning cylinder and sequential images to make still pictures move. 🧡🖤#WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Powhatan Middle School celebrated their Students of the Quarter earlier this month. Teachers nominated students that stood out for work ethic, positive attitude, being helpful to others as well as other amazing qualities. Students gathered with the teachers that nominated them for a celebration in the library complete with certificates, balloons, and of course, ice cream! #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Flat Rock Elementary School’s Fall Festival brought out big smiles, fun activities, and a great sense of community. 🎃🍂🎉 Thanks to everyone who helped make it such a memorable day for our students and families. 🧡🖤 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Fridays at Powhatan High School come with a little extra joy thanks to the Coffee Train! 🚂☕ Hot chocolate, coffee, and sweet treats delivered right to teachers and staff in their classrooms or work areas? That’s the kind of Friday pick-me-up we love. An added bonus: students greet everyone and help take and fulfill the orders, building real-world skills while brightening everyone’s day.🧡🖤 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Powhatan High School’s JROTC cadets recently visited Flat Rock Elementary to share important Holiday Fire Safety tips with some of our younger students. Each year, the cadets create a different service-learning project. This year, 14 cadets worked in teams to design their own fire safety presentations and deliver them during Resource classes. We love seeing our older students lead, teach, and give back in meaningful ways. 🧡🖤 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
Get ready for a night of mystery, music, and all-around fun! 🎤🎭 Join us Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the Powhatan High School auditorium for Masked Singer: Teacher Edition – where our own staff take the stage in full disguise. Come cheer on your favorites and try to guess who’s behind the mask. You might be surprised! Tickets are $5 at the door. All proceeds support our multi–grand champion, nationally ranked Choral Program. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Twenty-five Powhatan Middle School students recently auditioned for All-District Chorus, and we’re proud of every single one of them! 🎶 Fifteen students were selected and will take the stage at the All-District Chorus Concert in February. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

First graders at Pocahontas Elementary recently got creative with their favorite stuffed animals! 🧸 As part of this fun literacy lesson, the students brought in a stuffie, drew a picture of it, and brainstormed adjectives to describe it. Those adjectives were then used in a follow-up descriptive writing assignment. What a wonderful way to practice writing and vocabulary while highlighting their favorite stuffies. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
Jackson and Alex Fife, two creative students at Powhatan Middle School, recently shared their love of 3D- building with a special gift for their peers. Through their family nonprofit, Fife’s Fun with Filament, they used 3-D printers to create 125 fidgets – 25 for each PCPS school – to help students manage stress and stay focused. The donation was presented during ACCT with Principal Colin Innes, Superintendent Beth Teigen, and School Board Chair Susan Smith in attendance. 🧡 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

It was all boots, hats, and big smiles at Powhatan Elementary’s Cowboys and Cowgirls Day earlier this semester! 🤠 Students and staff showed off their best western wear, and Principal Jason Gill and Assistant Principal KP Gobble took the fun to the next level by greeting students (and making classroom rounds) in inflatable horse rider costumes. 🐴 It was a rootin’-tootin’ good time for everyone! 🧡 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
Second graders in Mrs. Young’s and Mrs. Raley’s classes at Pocahontas Elementary learned that in math – just like in life – there’s often more than one way to get to the right answer! Through a fun “math bug” activity, students recently practiced writing different addition problems that all equaled the same number, helping them understand balanced equations in a hands-on, memorable way. 🐞 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
Ahead of Veterans Day, Powhatan Middle School students put their creativity and gratitude to work in ACCT, making more than 350 cards to thank our veterans for their service. Mrs. Arnold and Mrs. Antone delivered the cards to Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where they were shared with veterans in a special Veterans Day celebration on November 7. ❤️🤍💙🧡🖤 #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
On this Veterans Day and every day, Powhatan County Public Schools extends our heartfelt gratitude to all veterans – especially those within our school community – for their service and sacrifice. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan
