• Just a reminder: A rise in illnesses related to the cold and flu season is upon us. Please review the school's exclusion policies for illness in our handbook. It is recommended that students not return to school until they are 24 hours fever free without medication and are free from vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hrs.

Auditions for the 4th and 5th grade Talent Show!

• Auditions for the 4th and 5th grade Talent Show are coming up! This is totally voluntary and the Talent Show is on Field Day, May 28th. Auditions will be held during your child resource time 4/29 - 5/1.

Backpacks of Love

• Backpacks of Love supports our students with food backpacks for the weekends. Check out more information on how to support the organization and food donations needed. 

Literacy Resources for Families

• Powhatan County Public Schools encourages families to explore the valuable literacy resources available through the Virginia Department of Education. These tools are designed to support student learning and success both in the classroom and at home.

• Be sure to visit the "Family Supports for Reading" section in the VDOE Resource Hub, which includes helpful strategies, tips, and fun activities to strengthen reading skills and inspire a love of reading at home.

• By working together, we can give every student the tools they need to grow as confident, capable readers.

Powhatan County Housing Needs Survey

• Your voice matters! PCPS encourages our staff and families to take the Powhatan County Housing Needs Survey to help guide important decisions for our community—and our schools.

• This anonymous survey, led by a local steering committee, will help guide important decisions about housing in Powhatan. As a school division, we know how housing affects PCPS students and families. Your feedback will also help ensure our schools are prepared for the community’s needs.

• Bricks 4 Kidz - Spring Session

  • Dates: Thursdays — May 8, 15, 22, & 29

  • Cost: $60 for all 4 weeks

  • Eligibility: Open to students in Grades 1–5 only

  • Sponsored by the FRES PTO

  • Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9, 2025 this year! We have a full week of spoiling our amazing FRES teachers and staff with a fun 50s theme! We are looking for donations to help pull this off. Please take a look at the items listed and see if you are able to donate. Each item will show when items are needed. Please label items with FRES PTO TAW. We appreciate YOU!
