For any transportation changes, please email FRES Parent Pick Up and your child’s teacher. Please be patient as arrival and dismissal takes a little longer the first few days.

Flat Rock Elementary School Parent Request for School Supplies 2025-2026
To the families of our Pre-School, Kindergarten, 3rd grade and new students, Student Health Services will be screening your student for vision and hearing beginning Tuesday, October 21st. Please have your student wear/bring glasses if applicable. You will be notified if further evaluation is recommended. Please contact our nurse, Jenn Lawson at 804-598-8540 with any questions.

Don’t forget to visit the information tables that will be set up in the cafeteria/main hall….staff will be on hand to answer questions and resource teachers will be in their rooms for you to visit as well!
Powhatan Strong: Family Connection Series
Powhatan County Public Schools Student Services Department welcomes you to our monthly Virtual Coffee Chats titled Powhatan Strong: Family Connection Series. Each month, Student Services will present a different topic with strategies to support your students from home, policies and procedures at the division and school levels, and opportunities to ask questions of our Student Services Department members and guest panelists.

Lunch Buddies Mentoring Program
The Lunch Buddies Mentoring Program has been in place in Powhatan County Public Schools for over 10 years. The goal of the program is to help foster strong relationships among our students and the positive adult role models in the community. Whether at any of our 3 elementary schools or our middle school, you would meet with a student once a week and ultimately act as another advocate for them. It can be anything from academic support to conversation, playing games, making crafts, and so much more. The program is planned to begin the first week of October and will last until mid-May, when SOL testing begins in our upper grade levels.
If you are interested in participating as a mentor for the Lunch Buddies Program, we would be happy to have you! Please reach out to lunchbuddies@powhatan.k12.va.us for any questions. If you are interested in applying, please visit this page to apply.

The book fair is right around the corner on September 29th through October 3rd and we need volunteers to help the kids shop and tidy up!

There’s only a few hours left for the PTO membership raffle!! Get your payment for membership before 11:59pm tonight to be entered to WIN!
The $10 donation is actually your family’s membership into the PTO. As a bonus, if you join by September 14th, you’ll automatically be entered into a raffle to win a prize basket valued at over $500! Each subsequent $10 donation gets you more entries into the raffle!

We are pushing for a goal of $1000 in memberships/donations by October 15th.
If we can reach that goal with the generous donations from our families we will be allowing some students to be able to “silly string” some faculty and staff, including our Principal and Assistant Principal!
