2024 Senior Walkthrough

Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future! Powhatan High School has a fantastic tradition of having graduating seniors visit the division’s elementary schools in their caps and gowns to do a Senior Walk Through. The elementary students get so excited to see the older students and cheer for them, and there are always a few teary eyes as teachers and their former students meet up.

Kid Pan Alley

In April, Pocahontas Elementary fourth grade classrooms participated in a great program where they worked with two musicians from Kid Pan Alley , Paul and Cheryl Reisler, to create original songs. The students wrote the lyrics under the musicians’ guidance before the Reislers set the songs to music. The groups then performed the songs for the entire school. Here is a selection of each of the six classroom songs. As you will see, they brought their creativity and sense of fun to this activity.

Athletics Signing Day!

Powhatan High School was proud to see an outstanding group of 13 student-athletes sign letters of intent last week at an official Signing Day ceremony. The students committed to the next chapter of their life at the higher education institution of their choice. We can’t wait to see what is in store next for these amazing young men and women of the Class of 2024.

2024 Senior Art Exhibition

The 2024 Powhatan AP Art Exhibit was held Friday at the War Memorial Cultural Arts and Community Center, and the night was a huge success. The annual showcase of 20 Powhatan High School art students not only allowed visitors to see some incredible artwork but to meet the artists and talk to them about their work. The evening of art was enhanced by special musical guest Jesse Whiting. Thank you to everyone who came out to support these talented artists.

Military Signing Day!

Powhatan High School continued its efforts to highlight the Class of 2024 with a Military Signing Day on Wednesday. Five graduating seniors signed letters of intent to join either the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, or U.S. Marines. We are so proud of these young people’s willingness to serve their country and excited to see what the future has in store for them.
