Powhatan County School librarians empower students to Think, Create, Share, and Grow in the school library as they learn to harness curiosity, model responsibility, inspire exploration, promote creativity, and deepen understanding. Our libraries strive to create equity and prepare all learners for college, career, and life through innovative, ethical guidance and support.
Student Skill Set & Sequence
At the elementary level, students are encouraged to explore their interests, develop a working knowledge of the online catalog, and begin to develop research skills. Middle school students further develop their information literacy skills. High school students continue to expand research skills, including inquiry based learning, ethical handling of materials, and citing sources used in their work.
