We want to share an important change to Virginia’s SOL testing requirements for students in grades 7–12 for the 2026–2027 school year.
A new state law, House Bill 299, changes when SOL tests can be administered. Beginning this school year, SOL tests for students in grades 7–12 cannot be given more than 10 full days before the end of the course. For PCPS the window will be May 19th - June 3rd. Our SOL testing schedule is below:
Thursday, March 18: IRW Writing SOL (8th grade only)
Wednesday, May 19: Reading SOL (all grades)
Friday, May 21: Math SOL (all grades)
Tuesday, May 25: Science SOL (Integrated 2 7th graders and all 8th graders)
Thursday, May 27: Social Studies SOL (Integrated 2 7th graders and all 8th graders)
