Powhatan County Public Schools' elementary school students and staff were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue on Monday for Patriot Day. In the United States, Patriot Day occurs on Sept. 11 of each year in memory of the people killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001.

The Powhatan County School Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at the Pocahontas Landmark Center, 4290 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA 23139.
