Posted by Elaine Lonon - Multiage 1/2 on Wednesday, Mar 27th, 2013. On Friday, February 22nd, Pocahontas Middle School hosted Mr. Scott, speaker and son of the first African-American Nascar driver, Wendell Oliver Scott. The Cultural Awareness Committee created a bulletin board in his dad's honor.
Each teacher prepared lessons during the month based on African-American sports heroes and allowed their students to decorate their doors to show what they had learned. Weekly trivia questions were also based upon the decorated doors.
