2017 Summer School for Powhatan High School Students Grades 9-12


July 5 - July 27 (Monday - Thursday)


General Information:
Powhatan High School
Monday - Thursday 8:00 A.M. - 12:45 P.M.

SOL Tests/Exams July 28
SOL Remediation and Retakes July 31-Aug 1

15 minute morning break/no lunch provided
Bus transportation provided at limited locations

Summer Session Policies:

Attendance – Due to the accelerated pace of the summer session, punctual and regular
attendance is mandatory. Students will be withdrawn after missing more than two (2) days or
the equivalent of two days. Teachers will track tardies to class. No refunds will be given.

Conduct – Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Students are expected to abide by the
Powhatan County Public Schools (PCPS) Code of Conduct. Failure to abide by the PCPS Code of
Conduct could lead to dismissal. No refunds will be issued due to dismissal for disciplinary
reasons.

Transportation – Limited bus transportation for Powhatan residents will be available during
the summer session. A schedule and route information will be posted on the PCPS website in
June.

Arrival & Dismissal Times – Students may be dropped off no earlier than 7:55 A.M. Arrival
time is 12:45 P.M. Students may be dismissed from the summer session due to excessive issues
with transportation.

Registration Information:

The deadline for registration is June 29, 2017.
Registration after the deadline must be completed and approved through the Secondary
Summer School Principals, John Ringstaff or Samantha Martin, at 598-5710. You will be notified
to confirm registration and course enrollment. For additional information regarding the 2017
summer session or questions regarding financial assistance, please contact the Secondary
Summer School Principals.

To register and pay:

Complete the paper Summer School Registration Form (available in the front office and school
counseling office) and return it in person or by mail along with payment to Powhatan High
School main office ℅ Carol Lucas.
