ALL Virginia DMV customer service centers (linked here)are CLOSED until at least April 23, and all DMV 2 Go and DMV Connect services (linked here) are postponed. Driver’s licenses and identification cards set to expire between March 15 and May 15 are extended 60 days from the original date of expiration. This includes credentials for individuals aged 75 and older who are typically required to make an in-person visit to renew. Vehicle registrations that expire in March and April are extended for 60 days. Virginians eligible to renew their licenses, identification cards, or vehicle registration online are encouraged to take advantage of those services. Mail-in options are also available for a number of transactions, such as vehicle registration, original title transactions, and driver's license renewal, if mailed a notice. If in-person service is needed, these customers will have an additional 60 days to renew credentials without a late fee.
Effective Tuesday, March 17, ALL local social security offices (https://www.ssa.gov/coronavirus/) are CLOSED to the public for in-person service! However, local offices will focus on specific critical workloads ONLY and will direct the public to access www.socialsecurity.gov for business that can be conducted online. Powhatan County is providing free, 24/7 WiFi access to the public at several locations. The network Powhatan_guest is accessible in the parking lots of the Powhatan County Library (2270 Mann Rd), Administration Building (3834 Old Buckingham Rd) and Village Building (3910 Old Buckingham Rd). It is also available from the Courthouse (3880 Old Buckingham Rd), but parking near the building is limited

Pandemic-EBT Program: Powhatan County Schools is participating in the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program as part of a food assistance program. The Virginia P-EBT Card will have food assistance benefits on it that can be used for food items anywhere Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are accepted. You did not apply for these benefits, but you have a student or students in your household who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at their school. Because they are not in school right now, Virginia can give you these P-EBT food benefits for use. You will receive a Virginia P-EBT Card in the mail in the next 30 to 45 days. If your child already receives SNAP benefits the P-EBT benefits will be loaded onto your SNAP card. Sheetz Kidz Meal Bagz. The Sheetz at 4201 Anderson Hwy (next to the Post Office) is offering children a free turkey sandwich lunch while supplies last. Families should ask an employee how to register.
