22-23 School Meal Changes

Due to changes at the federal level, school meal programs will look different than they have for the past two years.

School lunch and breakfast will no longer automatically be served at no cost to all students

Breakfast will $1.50 for K-12 and Lunch k-8 $3.00 and 9- 12 $3.10

All School will be offering Ala Carte items for your student to purchase.

Families need to be prepared to fill out paperwork or electronic documentation for Free or Reduced-price meal status to make sure your child can continue to receive healthy meals through school for reduced or no cost.

Conveniently add money to your child's My School Bucks Account!

To help ensure the health and safety of all our students and staff, we ask that parents please consider
funding their student’s meal account online through MySchoolBucks.

This will help minimize the amount of cash/check deposits that need to be handled throughout the day, which allows us to focus on serving meals as fast and efficiently as possible.

Create your free MySchoolBucks account to conveniently and securely add money to your student’s
meal account online or with the mobile app. With MySchoolBucks you’ll also be able to view cafeteria
purchases, check your student’s balance, and receive low balance alerts.

If you need assistance with your account, you can find helpful how-to videos and answers to commonly
asked questions by visiting myschoolbucks.com. Or, you can contact MySchoolBucks directly by logging
into your account to start a chat conversation or give them a call at (855) 832-5226.

When students have access to nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch they perform better in school.

Completing a free and reduced application is the first step in ensuring that your student receives the nutrition they need to excel throughout the day.

The application process is simple and confidential!

2022-23 Meal Application

The pandemic-related universal meal program funded by the USDA is not being extended to the 2022-23 school year. Families are encouraged to apply for free or reduced price meals for 2022-23. Meal costs for those who qualify for reduced-price is being waived and therefore there will be no cost for those who qualify.

Parents may print the household application to complete (please print meal application in the landscape orientation) and return or access the online meal application by selecting the MySchoolApp link below. You may also request an application by calling the school that your child(ren) attend. The completed application should be returned to the school.

National School Lunch & Breakfast Programs

Powhatan County Schools participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs!
Our cafeterias continue to ensure that meals are healthy and well-balanced.

Please continue to encourage your kids to choose school lunch!

🍎 Meal Applications Are Accepted All Year!
A new meal application must be submitted each year. If you feel you are eligible, submit a 2022-2023 School Meal application. Applications can be obtained from the school office, cafeteria, or online. Only one application is needed per household! Please remember a parent or guardian is responsible for any charges a student makes until the student's application is approved. Faxed and/or scanned applications CANNOT be accepted. Notifications will be mailed to the student's home after the application is approved.
